Groovincible (Band w/ Instruments)

Local group plays groovy, interesting and danceable tunes.

Local band Groovincible isn’t just going through the motions playing the same-old tired dance tunes. In fact, its name is short for “grooving, interesting, danceable music.” It mixes a bit of jazz, soul and psychedelic influences all with a smooth edge—like a softer, funkier Morcheeba. The trio started out as members of the Sacramento group ZuhG, but quit to start Groovincible. Singer Bianca Wright has a sultry voice that might be something you’d hear at a smoky jazz club, yet there’s nothing retro about her. She brings flair to the band’s light-as-a-feather grooves. The music is so cool, you don’t necessarily need to dance to it—it’s good for just kicking back.

Thoughts on last night’s show with Skerik’s Bandalabra

Thanks to Skerik’s Bandalabra & Ideateam for throwing down the gauntlet last night!!! This was a landmark for us because Skerik is one of our favorite players and a huge influence on our music.

We had the amazing Anthony Coleman II sitting in with us (on keys and trumpet) and HE got to sit in with Skerik & his band! It’s amazing to see that kind of thing go down and it sounded phenomenal.

Special thanks to Brian Chris Rogers for holding down the BASS last night, he is a musical force to be reckoned with and an overall great human being. His playing is prominently featured on our new record and we are blessed with his presence. Much respect to the amazing man that is Mark Miller, who filled in on Alto Sax.

The crowd was definitely reciprocating the love and energy and that makes a super-huge difference when you are up on the stage. So, thanks to everyone who came out and smiled, laughed, danced, and even clapped respectfully after each musician finished their solos–we appreciate every bit of it.

Love,

Groovincible
